Sandy Smith has a degree in sculpture from the Glasgow School of Art and an MFA from Columbia University in NYC. A passion developing long term, large scale projects in new, unusual media was his impetus for starting a fabrication business, and we continue to prioritize this line of work.

Using our structural and material know-how we designed this curved plastic installation piece in modules for easy transportation and installation.
21' TALL POMPOM MONUMENT
CNC / hand carving
This prize-winning sculpture was fabricated in foam, working to a 3d model provided by the Artist. To keep within a budget a combination of CNC and hand-carving was used to make an accurate 21 foot tall foam model, which was then covered in over 15,000 pompoms.

A deep knowledge of woodworking in addition to in-house CNC milling capabilities allowed us to seamlessly integrate embossed details into the construction of the hardwood frame.
MODULAR VIEWING ROOM
Modular large-scale carpentry
This 30' x 20' room, with wraparound corridor & matching ply I-beams, was built off-site as a series of bolt-together panels for a rapid & precise install on site at Gavin Brown's Enterprise for Artist Rirkrit Tiravanija.

We developed a proprietary material blend and casting process in order to create these textural display pieces.
CUSTOM DISPLAY HOODS
Customizing pre-fabricated units
Starting from an industrial unit, we customized these cabinets by repainting, adding a lightbox base to the interior, replacing the glass with a custom-color acrylic manufactured specifically to fit, and strengthened the whole thing to be a safe, freestanding unit.

Our in-house CNC capabilities include precision carving in a variety of materials. This relief sculpture was carved in HDU foam, and finished with a 2-part urethane spray finish.
VIDEO INSTALLATION

Working with the Amant Foundation we fabricated and installed the screens, monitor stands and benches for this large, complex video installation.
